The situation for each and every doctor will be vastly different depending whether they are a recent graduate from medical school, are nearing the end of their residency, or they have been out of residency for a few years. Also, how much money is available for a down payment and the amount of your student debt can play a significant role in the type of mortgage that would be best suited to your economic situation.
If you are going into residency next year and you want to buy a home in the city where you match it is important to make sure everything is done on time because there will only be a few months from match day until your program orientation.
